The Black & White's Camouflage; Unity is Everything

  The Zebra also possesses camouflage characteristics. Difficult to believe, eh? It does seem hard to do so, but that is to human eyes. Different animals have different eyesight depending on the species and the individual. Let's see what trick the Zebra uses to survive in the wild. The zebra is a member of the horse family. What makes it different from its mostly domestic brothers is that it owns vertical or slightly slanted stripes on its body. They have a wide range in east and southern Africa. They usually live in treeless grasslands and the savanna woodlands and are absent from deserts, rainforests, and wetlands.  All zebras' stripes look almost the same to human eyes, but a closer look tells us that not all the patterns are the same : they are quite different from one another. The animals that feed on zebra include leopards, cheetahs and spotted hyenas, but its most dangerous enemy is the African lion. A Lion's Lair : Den or Not?

   Image taken from: istockphoto.com A lion is the King of All Beasts. It is mainly found in the continent of Africa and the Gir forest in India. What is its home, though? If I were a normal preschooler, I would have said that the lion lives in a den. But how true really is this conventional, widely accepted address? A lion and his pride would indeed live in a den, if it were available. But not all regions or areas have a proper rock formation to host a pride of lions. For example, Lions are found in the Kalahari Desert region of South Africa. This desert region with extreme temperatures is devoid  ( or has a small number ) of suitable rock structures where a lion and its pride are comfortable. Even if some infrastructure is present, it can happen that the pride is too large for all its individuals to fit into that cave.
