The First Rain
The sudden patter,
The sudden shower,
It's 1.30 in the night,
The beautiful glimmer.
The trees are dark,
With leaves, oh so bright,
It's a pitch black night,
With just one lamp alive.
My worries disappear,
As I watch each twine,
My sleep appears,
Oh, after such a long time.
The lamp felt lonely,
So the thunder came by,
The heat left all,
The fresh odour of mud said 'Hi! '
O you beautiful raindrops,
You fall from up around,
Making splashing puddles,
Or shimmering pearls.
This is me welcoming you,
At 1.30 in the night.
I sit here,
Unable to sleep just yet,
You soothe me,
And that's all I need.
Who else is watching you,
I wonder in mind,
Is it my bestie?
Or is it the owl?
Or is it the guy who always fouled?
Is it the medicine?
Or is it she who made me laugh?
Is it your soldier?
Or is it he,
Who worries just like me?
It's 2 in the night,
And I sit here wondering about my life,
I think I cared too much for all
Giving more than I could keep for me,
Wanting nothing more than love,
It then backfired, and all love
Just left like a dove.
I stopped caring.
Believing in love,
I started forgetting.
I still am scared to believe again,
I still am afraid
For I can't let my heart break.
But dear rain, you talk to me more
Than anyone could, man or not.
You give the world too much,
It is all you have got,
All you take back,
Is just 'dx' drops.
I wonder if I can be like you,
Oh, so free and cool!
I now feel your blessings on my cheek,
I sleep rather peacefully,
Believing in the strength you give me!
